Tomboy at low tide on Hood Canal (1990)**. Same picture on the cover of Phil's Book "Boats With An Open Mind".

** I Took these photos in September 1990 out for a morning walk. The white spot in the trees (above) is a U.S. Navy Submarine Watch Kiosk still there and in great shape, left over from World War II. The Navy builds things to last! This picture of Tomboy taken from the bluff above, happens also to be the view from my friend, Jim Arkills' front yard. Jim has now moved from here back to Burlington, Vermont, but this was the view he got up to every morning for many years. Not always this sunny, sometimes rain, sometimes fog, sometimes even snow, but overall pretty tough, huh? Anyway, one of my favorite parking places which can only be taken advantage of with a flat-bottom boat!
